Klopp threatened to withdraw Liverpool from the English League Cup

After the goals beat Arsenal in the League Cup (Carabao Cup), coach Jurgen Klopp warned Liverpool could withdraw from this tournament if the Football Association of England (FA) does not arrange a suitable schedule for soccer team.

Klopp’s army reached the quarterfinals after a 5–5 draw with Arsenal, before winning 5-4 in a penalty shootout at Anfield at home on October 31.

In this match, Liverpool went up to create a good distance of 3-1, 4-2 but then was overturned by Arsenal to lead 5-4. However, in the final seconds of the match, Divock Origi’s goal helped Liverpool force the visitors to enter the series of brainstorming matches on the 11m mark.

It was a dramatic game and increased the excitement for the tournament, but Liverpool may not appear again in the upcoming Carabao Cup when Klopp is worried that the students are exhausted due to the schedule. Accordingly, the match day for the quarterfinals is scheduled for the third week of December, when Liverpool are present in Qatar to attend the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup. If there is no suitable change – maybe the week starts on 6.1.2020, the expected date for the first leg of the semi-final, the “Reds” of Merseyside will refuse to play.

“FIFA informed us that the Club World Cup will be in Qatar and we have to go there to play. The Premier League organizing committee said we had to play in a tournament that was obvious. But the Carabao Cup, if they do not find a way to arrange a suitable schedule, then we will not play”, Klopp told reporters.

The German military added that they hoped it started then (meaning finding a way to schedule the Carabao Cup quarter-finals). They really thought that would bring fairness. “We would not want to be a victim of this. We want to win, we have done it and if they don’t find a suitable day for us, then Liverpool cannot play in the next round (quarterfinals) and the opponent may go on or Arsenal will replace it”.

According to the British press, it seems very unlikely that the FA will not comply with Klopp’s request due to its involvement in commercial and television contracts. Ironically, Liverpool in the previous round feared being eliminated from the Carabao Cup due to the use of unqualified player Pedro Chirivella in the victory over Milton Keynes Dons. However, the FA is said to have relieved when it only slightly punished Champions League champions.
